Sapal Weaving Association (SWA)

In the Barangay (village) of Sapal, San Lorenzo, Rosie, Victoria and Nelida weave a history of tradition and culture. Using Baryos, Buri and Wild Pandan leaves that are grown in nearby plantations. The plant is dried, coloured and pressed. 

A weaver can finish a 4 ft x 6 ft mat in about 2 days. It is culturally known that women weave as a source of income. The women weave on the ground to be closer to Earth and their techniques involve using their hands and feet. Aban Eco work closely with the community to empower gender equality and fair trade.
