Basey Association of Native Industry Growth (BANIG)

Basey, Samar the Banig capital of the Philippines. Basey is well-known for its colorful and woven Tikog-based products and handicrafts most especially the multi-purpose mats, which may, in turn, be used as a material for the production and creation of other products. The Women of Basey complete the full circle of weaving. They are involved in the planting, harvesting, processing, dying, drying and flattening of the Tikog grass. Once woven, the women continue to work with AbanEco values in ensuring the our products complete the full circle of fair trade.
